Privacy Policy — Water my Plant

Effective date: December 5, 2025

Introduction

Welcome — this page explains how Water my Plant ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and protects personal information when you use our mobile application. We keep our privacy practices simple and transparent.

Information we collect

We collect only the information we need to provide and improve the app:

  • Name — the display name you provide for your account.
  • Email address — used for account creation, sign-in, password reset, and important notifications.

We do not collect or store plant photos or other plant-specific content on our servers by default. If you choose to use the app's backup feature, you may explicitly upload or back up plant images and related data—those backups are stored only if you opt in.

How we use your information

  • To create and manage your user account and settings.
  • To send account-related messages, such as password resets and important notices.
  • To respond to your support requests when you contact us.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Security

All data transmitted between the app and our servers is protected in transit using industry-standard TLS/SSL encryption. We follow reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect stored data.

Backups and optional uploads

By default, the app does not upload or retain plant images or extended plant notes on our servers. If you use the in-app backup feature, you explicitly choose to store your plant images and related data — backups are stored only for device restore or cross-device sync.

Data retention

We retain your name and email for as long as your account exists or as necessary to comply with legal obligations. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal data from our active systems and backups within a reasonable timeframe, unless retention is required by law.

Children

Our app is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will remove that information.

GDPR & CCPA Rights

If you are located in the European Union (GDPR) or the state of California (CCPA), you have additional rights regarding your personal data. These include:

  • Right to Access — You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to Correction — You may request corrections to inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Right to Deletion (“Right to be Forgotten”) — You may request that we delete your personal information.
  • Right to Data Portability — You may request a machine-readable copy of your data.
  • Right to Restrict or Object to Processing (GDPR only) — Where applicable, you may ask us to limit how your data is used.
  • Right to Opt-Out of Sale of Data (CCPA) — We do not sell personal data, but this right is still acknowledged.

To exercise any of these rights, please email us at:
